   By combining traditional Swiss craftsmanship with
) I- L5 h: |( E& p+ ?' ~: Gthe latest microprocessor control systems, Studer has
engineered an audio recorder with unprecedented
capabilities. All transport functions are totally micro-
8 m4 @1 s1 g9 X/ h+ E) xprocessor controlled, and all four tape speeds (3.75 to
) _1 n: U$ @* V1 B30 ips) are front panel selectable. The digital readout
gives real time indication ( + or - in hrs, min, and sec.)
at all speeds, including vari-speed. A zero locate and
) n: V/ L" W3 q6 V( B" O8 M' Rone autolocate position are always at hand.
$ I# p; E  B9 ~  W2 o" S   That's only the beginning. The A810 also provides
. i  T, P/ y- k, `  Z# nthree "soft keys" which may be user programmed for a
variety of operating features. It's your choice: Three more
locate positions, Start locate, Pause, Fader start, Tape
dump, Remote ready, Time code enable. You can
program your A810 for one specaillized application, ?
re-program it later for another use.
" R2 v. _$ x. b1 g& s5 A    There's more. Electronic alignment of audio
3 D* q7 s6 ~# j5 {( R$ K4 S2 lparameters (bias, level, EQ) is accomplished via digital
2 M3 `$ E# b, K; {7 D" Q5 npad networs. (Tripots have been eliminated.) After
/ l/ b( y8 R0 S, w! L4 q/ Jprogramming alignments into the A810's memory, you
simply push a button to re-align when switching tape
$ A0 a1 f2 m7 R$ Iformulations.
$ U2 H0 E. [: _7 p     The A810 also introduces a new generation of audio
electronics with our choice of either transformerless or
transformer balanced in/out cards. Both offer advanced
: v, f, L, J, lphase compensation circuits for unprecedented phase
* B! f( i- R4 alinearity. The new transport control servo system responds
quickly, runs cool, and offers four spooling speeds.
     Everything so far is standard. As an option, The A810
offers time-coincident SMPTE code on a center track
/ ^& A4 w- T! S% N5 F* D& p# @$ Wbetween stereo audio channels. Separate time code
heads auido/code crosstalk of better
than 90 dB, while a normal digital delay automatically
. ~. Q5 y' g* Ocompensates for the tape offset at all speeds. Code and
audio always come out together, just (?) on your 4 (?) track.
