   With the new A810, Studer makes a quantum leap
' y6 L2 Y$ |% j, X/ U, C6 eforward in audio recorder technology. Quite simply, it
re-states the art of analog audio recording.
, P9 a; W: p! R# V   By combining traditional Swiss craftsmanship with
2 L' N( v+ [, v) r0 E: Fthe latest microprocessor control systems, Studer has
engineered an audio recorder with unprecedented
/ z7 J6 _8 E/ y0 wcapabilities. All transport functions are totally micro-
% T7 ?/ Q) J0 Q& V+ Uprocessor controlled, and all four tape speeds (3.75 to
) C& m& @3 y, R8 L3 e9 |$ ~6 y& ^; O30 ips) are front panel selectable. The digital readout
gives real time indication ( + or - in hrs, min, and sec.)
at all speeds, including vari-speed. A zero locate and
% R0 Z+ D; s. y. y/ o- xone autolocate position are always at hand.
/ O. ~! u; h9 t: i3 N. ~( v   That's only the beginning. The A810 also provides
three "soft keys" which may be user programmed for a
( `$ |* Z, N* C- i3 f$ mvariety of operating features. It's your choice: Three more
locate positions, Start locate, Pause, Fader start, Tape
9 k: ]* P0 v/ Z) pdump, Remote ready, Time code enable. You can
program your A810 for one specaillized application, ?
re-program it later for another use.
* ]% k5 W; g, v1 Z    There's more. Electronic alignment of audio
1 L. b3 U  }- E! g. F8 y+ [" k0 ~: Wparameters (bias, level, EQ) is accomplished via digital
2 u) S& h- S: `, w8 |pad networs. (Tripots have been eliminated.) After
' [7 c* {: Q. Z+ Sprogramming alignments into the A810's memory, you
simply push a button to re-align when switching tape
. q4 @/ ^% R, G: D2 d7 L& i! Aformulations.
     The A810 also introduces a new generation of audio
electronics with our choice of either transformerless or
( ]% w, a$ q3 J, C3 M: D2 dtransformer balanced in/out cards. Both offer advanced
phase compensation circuits for unprecedented phase
linearity. The new transport control servo system responds
quickly, runs cool, and offers four spooling speeds.
     Everything so far is standard. As an option, The A810
. n. V1 P* t: y: z, z6 m' U; B4 poffers time-coincident SMPTE code on a center track
# @, Z+ T+ {4 x/ p9 d$ vbetween stereo audio channels. Separate time code
heads auido/code crosstalk of better
7 J8 `% l9 h! D6 Qthan 90 dB, while a normal digital delay automatically
compensates for the tape offset at all speeds. Code and
+ o0 M$ `+ w1 O9 e5 G8 Paudio always come out together, just (?) on your 4 (?) track.
Except you only the "4" tape. (?)

with RS232, RS422, and RS422 modified (??)
