" R1 q  y* {4 O4 k$ \" eforward in audio recorder technology. Quite simply, it
re-states the art of analog audio recording.
   By combining traditional Swiss craftsmanship with
the latest microprocessor control systems, Studer has
& u' E$ J, y$ s) D1 w1 Q$ }engineered an audio recorder with unprecedented
$ O- u: j8 J( K. ^& T9 mcapabilities. All transport functions are totally micro-
& r& z  }# ^2 I+ @/ J9 M. Z# jprocessor controlled, and all four tape speeds (3.75 to
30 ips) are front panel selectable. The digital readout
( r8 e9 u4 Q. v& s0 ?3 r% Ogives real time indication ( + or - in hrs, min, and sec.)
at all speeds, including vari-speed. A zero locate and
one autolocate position are always at hand.
   That's only the beginning. The A810 also provides
three "soft keys" which may be user programmed for a
variety of operating features. It's your choice: Three more
; s- ^3 [' j* H$ ?locate positions, Start locate, Pause, Fader start, Tape
% a% t0 l; L, U  N; sdump, Remote ready, Time code enable. You can
program your A810 for one specaillized application, ?
0 @( h) m* J, s7 \& S* mre-program it later for another use.
    There's more. Electronic alignment of audio
" L) Q% H6 [7 ~& bparameters (bias, level, EQ) is accomplished via digital
! f9 m; Z5 |& |, t0 M$ Y1 L1 [pad networs. (Tripots have been eliminated.) After
programming alignments into the A810's memory, you
, R9 U& D9 C3 Rsimply push a button to re-align when switching tape
formulations.
4 R% ]' x! ^2 [/ Y* C; N  R     The A810 also introduces a new generation of audio
electronics with our choice of either transformerless or
, Q5 K( t& E  q" h& I: otransformer balanced in/out cards. Both offer advanced
phase compensation circuits for unprecedented phase
; O+ U' ~/ o5 }2 flinearity. The new transport control servo system responds
% @% c, d* R$ Oquickly, runs cool, and offers four spooling speeds.
     Everything so far is standard. As an option, The A810
8 P% P- I: q0 m' O4 D% `9 \4 Zoffers time-coincident SMPTE code on a center track
between stereo audio channels. Separate time code
4 v# S+ |; E0 `) A7 [# y0 l, a1 iheads auido/code crosstalk of better
than 90 dB, while a normal digital delay automatically
compensates for the tape offset at all speeds. Code and
audio always come out together, just (?) on your 4 (?) track.
Except you only the "4" tape. (?)
