   With the new A810, Studer makes a quantum leap

   By combining traditional Swiss craftsmanship with

engineered an audio recorder with unprecedented
capabilities. All transport functions are totally micro-
9 `5 G& H/ F1 H* X6 Fprocessor controlled, and all four tape speeds (3.75 to
30 ips) are front panel selectable. The digital readout
. Z! C6 L6 |9 V8 W5 D# V( zgives real time indication ( + or - in hrs, min, and sec.)
! G, C  M2 ?* b" o9 f. sat all speeds, including vari-speed. A zero locate and
' h/ L& v0 W* A) rone autolocate position are always at hand.
' y: W, b& x: V5 x  g   That's only the beginning. The A810 also provides
6 X8 }# p% [8 j/ g1 g7 A$ wthree "soft keys" which may be user programmed for a
variety of operating features. It's your choice: Three more
locate positions, Start locate, Pause, Fader start, Tape
dump, Remote ready, Time code enable. You can
program your A810 for one specaillized application, ?
, y8 f* v) |& O1 e2 W! K& W; mre-program it later for another use.
8 S0 \+ b0 D1 M: \( j  I    There's more. Electronic alignment of audio
  _+ V9 `9 D& W0 E* S- Q% w7 Gparameters (bias, level, EQ) is accomplished via digital
pad networs. (Tripots have been eliminated.) After
- C+ r  I0 J  H: O$ m9 ]6 {& xprogramming alignments into the A810's memory, you
simply push a button to re-align when switching tape
# g; c" _8 Y( D, A/ `formulations.
     The A810 also introduces a new generation of audio
electronics with our choice of either transformerless or
4 X# z9 @7 T% G) @transformer balanced in/out cards. Both offer advanced
phase compensation circuits for unprecedented phase
! a' [1 U' K% n7 L# ylinearity. The new transport control servo system responds
7 l* r+ s2 X2 a, Kquickly, runs cool, and offers four spooling speeds.
" M- Z5 f/ i3 F( T+ `     Everything so far is standard. As an option, The A810
8 b. w1 a* l! Q1 v& Poffers time-coincident SMPTE code on a center track
between stereo audio channels. Separate time code
heads auido/code crosstalk of better
" y: K+ U0 q( D; qthan 90 dB, while a normal digital delay automatically
compensates for the tape offset at all speeds. Code and
audio always come out together, just (?) on your 4 (?) track.
