   With the new A810, Studer makes a quantum leap

1 g# w2 K/ C5 U9 R   By combining traditional Swiss craftsmanship with
1 r6 n. m5 N/ X- A% L2 Nthe latest microprocessor control systems, Studer has
! @( _' h: Z2 I' h4 J$ Hengineered an audio recorder with unprecedented
capabilities. All transport functions are totally micro-
( ?8 P7 e0 C$ Yprocessor controlled, and all four tape speeds (3.75 to
30 ips) are front panel selectable. The digital readout
  F# z  ^5 ~- h; kgives real time indication ( + or - in hrs, min, and sec.)
at all speeds, including vari-speed. A zero locate and
one autolocate position are always at hand.
3 \0 q3 y8 _5 R. R+ f   That's only the beginning. The A810 also provides
three "soft keys" which may be user programmed for a
4 `0 O* L  R* A( q# P. {: A. pvariety of operating features. It's your choice: Three more
! x. y0 t! G' \+ V+ N0 v  M9 dlocate positions, Start locate, Pause, Fader start, Tape
' p' J- T5 ]; Q  xdump, Remote ready, Time code enable. You can
program your A810 for one specaillized application, ?
re-program it later for another use.
    There's more. Electronic alignment of audio
parameters (bias, level, EQ) is accomplished via digital
pad networs. (Tripots have been eliminated.) After
programming alignments into the A810's memory, you
simply push a button to re-align when switching tape
formulations.
     The A810 also introduces a new generation of audio
) ?" {8 V1 {/ [# t6 Ielectronics with our choice of either transformerless or
8 ^5 Q# L8 \( R8 H  M, wtransformer balanced in/out cards. Both offer advanced
! R- g& C4 w4 t& ^1 `4 a. t4 d4 G/ l( Nphase compensation circuits for unprecedented phase
; j6 \/ D2 _% d9 w) ]- r2 rlinearity. The new transport control servo system responds
. W/ Z# u; Q8 p/ ^9 i4 Mquickly, runs cool, and offers four spooling speeds.
+ `$ X' J, h+ u' r$ @, o" C     Everything so far is standard. As an option, The A810
offers time-coincident SMPTE code on a center track
9 q+ n2 F/ f: p) n' y! \3 Qbetween stereo audio channels. Separate time code
heads auido/code crosstalk of better
5 r. |% x% v5 kthan 90 dB, while a normal digital delay automatically
+ d7 y/ e& q; Z! R) j% Acompensates for the tape offset at all speeds. Code and
0 Z4 l+ U/ B, m7 [) V/ U8 naudio always come out together, just (?) on your 4 (?) track.
Except you only the "4" tape. (?)
