   With the new A810, Studer makes a quantum leap

/ N0 \- w$ U% A! gre-states the art of analog audio recording.
5 ]  K1 a; u4 m" b& X   By combining traditional Swiss craftsmanship with
the latest microprocessor control systems, Studer has
0 p7 t- _0 K8 Wengineered an audio recorder with unprecedented
capabilities. All transport functions are totally micro-
processor controlled, and all four tape speeds (3.75 to
9 Z8 O$ k0 y- Y, i/ h/ I30 ips) are front panel selectable. The digital readout
7 {+ c1 y1 N& b7 r0 `gives real time indication ( + or - in hrs, min, and sec.)
at all speeds, including vari-speed. A zero locate and
one autolocate position are always at hand.
   That's only the beginning. The A810 also provides
. k# }. {6 R+ \" ]4 m" d5 M+ [three "soft keys" which may be user programmed for a
$ ]5 c* ?" {% F. b& V& A) zvariety of operating features. It's your choice: Three more
7 ~/ I1 E! y. \, o% g4 i( rlocate positions, Start locate, Pause, Fader start, Tape
% U8 l0 s/ N, zdump, Remote ready, Time code enable. You can
" J# B# ~$ |6 K4 |. F5 yprogram your A810 for one specaillized application, ?
" V0 A0 u- v# |/ V2 ~: pre-program it later for another use.

# H4 q; A: L# @! |& Kparameters (bias, level, EQ) is accomplished via digital
pad networs. (Tripots have been eliminated.) After
8 ^  z) ?+ I: S: G6 W1 Cprogramming alignments into the A810's memory, you
simply push a button to re-align when switching tape
5 v0 M( [$ b1 N& `8 j- a2 B. ^formulations.
     The A810 also introduces a new generation of audio
electronics with our choice of either transformerless or
transformer balanced in/out cards. Both offer advanced
phase compensation circuits for unprecedented phase
linearity. The new transport control servo system responds
6 Q, p; s- A: e* t& `' }quickly, runs cool, and offers four spooling speeds.
     Everything so far is standard. As an option, The A810
; L" z; _) C0 coffers time-coincident SMPTE code on a center track
- Y9 {3 T! R8 J6 [' q0 H* A/ Jbetween stereo audio channels. Separate time code
& H6 ?& K* V: v5 m! u* A. Hheads auido/code crosstalk of better
than 90 dB, while a normal digital delay automatically
compensates for the tape offset at all speeds. Code and
audio always come out together, just (?) on your 4 (?) track.
