   With the new A810, Studer makes a quantum leap
2 Y$ E7 h: s9 M& B$ C- q+ Z5 J2 qforward in audio recorder technology. Quite simply, it
re-states the art of analog audio recording.
   By combining traditional Swiss craftsmanship with
8 _7 ^) R( v5 t) J7 @% H3 Cthe latest microprocessor control systems, Studer has
engineered an audio recorder with unprecedented
: W9 Y: E9 ^/ @) ocapabilities. All transport functions are totally micro-
0 V2 D& h; L$ W$ x+ Z5 vprocessor controlled, and all four tape speeds (3.75 to
30 ips) are front panel selectable. The digital readout
gives real time indication ( + or - in hrs, min, and sec.)
at all speeds, including vari-speed. A zero locate and
6 {$ `" Y/ M/ E& A6 fone autolocate position are always at hand.
   That's only the beginning. The A810 also provides
2 a  k7 a  F3 H2 {three "soft keys" which may be user programmed for a
variety of operating features. It's your choice: Three more
6 s! l" Y8 Y* e/ Y2 u/ ?1 ]locate positions, Start locate, Pause, Fader start, Tape
, ~$ j1 s6 q5 h$ Q. odump, Remote ready, Time code enable. You can
$ ?' t# Q6 ^# Pprogram your A810 for one specaillized application, ?
re-program it later for another use.
: i( f% n$ z3 {    There's more. Electronic alignment of audio
0 O! Y3 Q5 j! c( [3 Xparameters (bias, level, EQ) is accomplished via digital
# }2 P# _9 {# P1 W% J8 C8 z2 a1 I5 mpad networs. (Tripots have been eliminated.) After
& R& o* @- _3 n3 w" q* kprogramming alignments into the A810's memory, you
& u2 |5 [. S0 ?. Fsimply push a button to re-align when switching tape
formulations.
     The A810 also introduces a new generation of audio
electronics with our choice of either transformerless or
6 C, a$ m. V5 L/ r$ Utransformer balanced in/out cards. Both offer advanced
1 ?* @; y" O1 a# ?phase compensation circuits for unprecedented phase
4 ~6 k3 E" Z. E. K2 U2 {. \: x' k/ Clinearity. The new transport control servo system responds
quickly, runs cool, and offers four spooling speeds.
8 G2 j+ Z7 k% K     Everything so far is standard. As an option, The A810
! |- X4 {# ?3 g: f. _offers time-coincident SMPTE code on a center track
between stereo audio channels. Separate time code
heads auido/code crosstalk of better
1 O+ h4 ^7 F- D  b3 X3 p/ H- athan 90 dB, while a normal digital delay automatically
compensates for the tape offset at all speeds. Code and
audio always come out together, just (?) on your 4 (?) track.
Except you only the "4" tape. (?)
