   By combining traditional Swiss craftsmanship with
the latest microprocessor control systems, Studer has
engineered an audio recorder with unprecedented
$ n) |* P5 L7 y" k8 `& ^- @$ e- |capabilities. All transport functions are totally micro-
; p2 @6 \+ S2 G9 ]$ vprocessor controlled, and all four tape speeds (3.75 to
30 ips) are front panel selectable. The digital readout
gives real time indication ( + or - in hrs, min, and sec.)
at all speeds, including vari-speed. A zero locate and
0 D# X  N9 H( v% ~3 z% J& t9 Yone autolocate position are always at hand.
   That's only the beginning. The A810 also provides
three "soft keys" which may be user programmed for a
: b; N0 A( i! o7 Xvariety of operating features. It's your choice: Three more
+ A7 B1 Q- L  a5 }5 c  xlocate positions, Start locate, Pause, Fader start, Tape
6 y/ [8 L8 L$ F7 Udump, Remote ready, Time code enable. You can
3 ?3 Z0 W, [; [7 j% g# m* rprogram your A810 for one specaillized application, ?
re-program it later for another use.
% O) o, G+ a5 G4 l) ~' ^: q    There's more. Electronic alignment of audio
, Q% g) U9 L/ _9 d) z/ K3 l) q' d; gparameters (bias, level, EQ) is accomplished via digital
7 m0 f, Q) a! T8 D" Gpad networs. (Tripots have been eliminated.) After
! h8 H+ R3 j. b! D3 z* Fprogramming alignments into the A810's memory, you
simply push a button to re-align when switching tape
formulations.
     The A810 also introduces a new generation of audio
electronics with our choice of either transformerless or
& }8 }, n$ f* Q; Atransformer balanced in/out cards. Both offer advanced
phase compensation circuits for unprecedented phase
4 }7 i& c( u6 ~) a) _) wlinearity. The new transport control servo system responds
quickly, runs cool, and offers four spooling speeds.
     Everything so far is standard. As an option, The A810
offers time-coincident SMPTE code on a center track
between stereo audio channels. Separate time code
heads auido/code crosstalk of better
than 90 dB, while a normal digital delay automatically
compensates for the tape offset at all speeds. Code and
audio always come out together, just (?) on your 4 (?) track.

     If you'd like computer control of an these functions,
