   By combining traditional Swiss craftsmanship with
the latest microprocessor control systems, Studer has
engineered an audio recorder with unprecedented
capabilities. All transport functions are totally micro-
processor controlled, and all four tape speeds (3.75 to
$ h0 X4 `! [) r5 r- t7 R30 ips) are front panel selectable. The digital readout
9 Z' x0 F% u3 B6 y! Kgives real time indication ( + or - in hrs, min, and sec.)
at all speeds, including vari-speed. A zero locate and
+ U5 s5 a9 A# \0 U- S' }& Qone autolocate position are always at hand.
, \3 g$ l4 i1 H/ a   That's only the beginning. The A810 also provides
three "soft keys" which may be user programmed for a
variety of operating features. It's your choice: Three more
4 m# z8 C9 s. x+ [2 K* N9 Nlocate positions, Start locate, Pause, Fader start, Tape
dump, Remote ready, Time code enable. You can
  x' P8 O: F5 w' g) i7 Cprogram your A810 for one specaillized application, ?
re-program it later for another use.
    There's more. Electronic alignment of audio
parameters (bias, level, EQ) is accomplished via digital
: I4 f: H8 P& _/ E& Lpad networs. (Tripots have been eliminated.) After
# _0 Y3 P: G) l0 k: g* cprogramming alignments into the A810's memory, you
# K+ A  |2 j; l3 T$ _) c$ R8 ssimply push a button to re-align when switching tape
& l. Q1 M) g, [' e: b# L8 iformulations.
     The A810 also introduces a new generation of audio
# l% p/ w; ^8 b* e! }% ]/ O# Xelectronics with our choice of either transformerless or
$ A7 d! o- Z# H8 \2 u* Ztransformer balanced in/out cards. Both offer advanced
# Q9 t8 E# N4 q% z) Uphase compensation circuits for unprecedented phase
linearity. The new transport control servo system responds
! [0 W; i0 Y/ |6 r6 _; _quickly, runs cool, and offers four spooling speeds.
: p3 x, P' b) J/ k0 N: A/ Z# @/ u: t     Everything so far is standard. As an option, The A810
offers time-coincident SMPTE code on a center track
between stereo audio channels. Separate time code
; _/ R- g) c0 P3 c) ^heads auido/code crosstalk of better
' m6 N* r# u* ?6 k( R' Nthan 90 dB, while a normal digital delay automatically
compensates for the tape offset at all speeds. Code and
audio always come out together, just (?) on your 4 (?) track.
