3 P7 z4 k' z* T8 T+ u" ~' bforward in audio recorder technology. Quite simply, it
: o/ [$ h  \$ X; U% _( pre-states the art of analog audio recording.
   By combining traditional Swiss craftsmanship with
' a, T  o- x3 xthe latest microprocessor control systems, Studer has
engineered an audio recorder with unprecedented
capabilities. All transport functions are totally micro-
! l8 S+ L- F, g; @4 |processor controlled, and all four tape speeds (3.75 to
# v# m# q4 o% u2 A: M# H30 ips) are front panel selectable. The digital readout
: c6 k* D* a1 I" p* H* hgives real time indication ( + or - in hrs, min, and sec.)
at all speeds, including vari-speed. A zero locate and
one autolocate position are always at hand.
* A$ t( b8 A2 L   That's only the beginning. The A810 also provides
three "soft keys" which may be user programmed for a
variety of operating features. It's your choice: Three more
  s$ ?7 R' b' P; `locate positions, Start locate, Pause, Fader start, Tape
dump, Remote ready, Time code enable. You can
- m  i" F1 Z2 S' P& c* R1 dprogram your A810 for one specaillized application, ?
9 d2 C% q! o' r1 L6 V8 t! T; cre-program it later for another use.
; Z8 R+ x3 b5 z9 i- n7 o    There's more. Electronic alignment of audio
parameters (bias, level, EQ) is accomplished via digital
pad networs. (Tripots have been eliminated.) After
programming alignments into the A810's memory, you
5 ]& {& ^$ v6 h" |8 \% ]simply push a button to re-align when switching tape
formulations.
: {. r5 g) Z6 a" s$ A6 n* }     The A810 also introduces a new generation of audio
% o/ P6 U$ e3 p0 |4 d8 L9 Welectronics with our choice of either transformerless or
transformer balanced in/out cards. Both offer advanced
% Q% R& U6 {9 D9 nphase compensation circuits for unprecedented phase
+ H% _$ \- P8 D, o' v4 G8 Rlinearity. The new transport control servo system responds
quickly, runs cool, and offers four spooling speeds.
2 E% Q/ Q5 d+ Y3 ^# K9 S, I     Everything so far is standard. As an option, The A810
offers time-coincident SMPTE code on a center track
between stereo audio channels. Separate time code
, |2 V. k% t! j& s% mheads auido/code crosstalk of better
than 90 dB, while a normal digital delay automatically
compensates for the tape offset at all speeds. Code and
audio always come out together, just (?) on your 4 (?) track.
