   With the new A810, Studer makes a quantum leap
forward in audio recorder technology. Quite simply, it
; s, |# _- i; w6 y6 Qre-states the art of analog audio recording.
0 J; ~( q/ r& r- G) S   By combining traditional Swiss craftsmanship with
the latest microprocessor control systems, Studer has
engineered an audio recorder with unprecedented
capabilities. All transport functions are totally micro-
processor controlled, and all four tape speeds (3.75 to
3 z7 ^4 f( ~5 I' a9 [! J- z30 ips) are front panel selectable. The digital readout
gives real time indication ( + or - in hrs, min, and sec.)
1 p! p3 n* V9 y2 e# `, b  e6 Hat all speeds, including vari-speed. A zero locate and
one autolocate position are always at hand.
   That's only the beginning. The A810 also provides
three "soft keys" which may be user programmed for a
6 j5 c# d. p0 D" U' t; rvariety of operating features. It's your choice: Three more
+ p1 J% S  b& b& e0 B! nlocate positions, Start locate, Pause, Fader start, Tape
dump, Remote ready, Time code enable. You can
program your A810 for one specaillized application, ?
re-program it later for another use.
    There's more. Electronic alignment of audio
; _# d0 q, s2 n- A" Xparameters (bias, level, EQ) is accomplished via digital
3 Q8 ], G: y4 j! ]pad networs. (Tripots have been eliminated.) After
0 l0 J& p3 ~' Y; ~. Yprogramming alignments into the A810's memory, you
; y& z9 a1 K3 z0 k, l& Esimply push a button to re-align when switching tape
formulations.
     The A810 also introduces a new generation of audio
electronics with our choice of either transformerless or
$ ]! U* Y9 k8 h5 O" C' b5 Ntransformer balanced in/out cards. Both offer advanced
4 G% e& b7 i% T1 C, R: X* S) W/ e* ^phase compensation circuits for unprecedented phase
linearity. The new transport control servo system responds
! p6 K2 ?, Z% o, n* D+ aquickly, runs cool, and offers four spooling speeds.
     Everything so far is standard. As an option, The A810
offers time-coincident SMPTE code on a center track
between stereo audio channels. Separate time code
heads auido/code crosstalk of better
: v7 l- O7 }& m2 U: n0 l0 \than 90 dB, while a normal digital delay automatically
compensates for the tape offset at all speeds. Code and
audio always come out together, just (?) on your 4 (?) track.
