   With the new A810, Studer makes a quantum leap
# ^' V# s; u  H6 i! H+ Tforward in audio recorder technology. Quite simply, it

   By combining traditional Swiss craftsmanship with
4 U, J1 r. t2 a+ T! Uthe latest microprocessor control systems, Studer has
engineered an audio recorder with unprecedented
capabilities. All transport functions are totally micro-
- h. D1 q9 y! Y" u9 c! Bprocessor controlled, and all four tape speeds (3.75 to
30 ips) are front panel selectable. The digital readout
3 j& _) x; i& l8 {% [gives real time indication ( + or - in hrs, min, and sec.)
at all speeds, including vari-speed. A zero locate and
$ i- ~$ U4 E2 Kone autolocate position are always at hand.
9 ~1 t6 W8 |. S: T2 a1 X   That's only the beginning. The A810 also provides
( d6 w! O, @0 D$ W8 F( |three "soft keys" which may be user programmed for a
variety of operating features. It's your choice: Three more
) y8 Y, e* E' t) b' xlocate positions, Start locate, Pause, Fader start, Tape
dump, Remote ready, Time code enable. You can
program your A810 for one specaillized application, ?
- C. {& j3 e# d9 i4 \re-program it later for another use.
    There's more. Electronic alignment of audio
0 ?# N6 J' @# n. w2 ]parameters (bias, level, EQ) is accomplished via digital
' Y9 r4 J- `* Ipad networs. (Tripots have been eliminated.) After
programming alignments into the A810's memory, you
simply push a button to re-align when switching tape
. k& _1 S* j* f( M4 Kformulations.
; i$ N& ~3 {# u+ r  Z& Z, D4 @" w     The A810 also introduces a new generation of audio
electronics with our choice of either transformerless or
transformer balanced in/out cards. Both offer advanced
, [2 \+ b+ v. _: k2 \2 S) ]phase compensation circuits for unprecedented phase
1 U5 e3 p+ `0 ~linearity. The new transport control servo system responds
quickly, runs cool, and offers four spooling speeds.
) M' m+ f& N2 k1 L     Everything so far is standard. As an option, The A810
+ B8 e0 l8 b& i- U4 O, noffers time-coincident SMPTE code on a center track
between stereo audio channels. Separate time code
& V7 T5 @4 B2 I: k4 i! `) Aheads auido/code crosstalk of better
than 90 dB, while a normal digital delay automatically
& P! {/ W6 G0 a! G. Y1 Ncompensates for the tape offset at all speeds. Code and
2 l/ S$ c& p$ H6 V4 laudio always come out together, just (?) on your 4 (?) track.
