   With the new A810, Studer makes a quantum leap
% V, u% b: a/ h* Uforward in audio recorder technology. Quite simply, it
re-states the art of analog audio recording.
! ~3 Z' Z. K1 k) I: a& n   By combining traditional Swiss craftsmanship with
the latest microprocessor control systems, Studer has
: j4 n& `. b4 z4 j# tengineered an audio recorder with unprecedented
capabilities. All transport functions are totally micro-
processor controlled, and all four tape speeds (3.75 to
9 K4 O3 X; M1 q3 P: u4 @30 ips) are front panel selectable. The digital readout
1 Z& h( `, a  \gives real time indication ( + or - in hrs, min, and sec.)
at all speeds, including vari-speed. A zero locate and
one autolocate position are always at hand.
! Y& i: M2 t# \1 P6 G& M   That's only the beginning. The A810 also provides
three "soft keys" which may be user programmed for a
5 U$ l# Z6 r- s) ?2 O5 I! F7 uvariety of operating features. It's your choice: Three more
locate positions, Start locate, Pause, Fader start, Tape
% ~; |- g: z5 @& n- ~5 o) ^; ?( mdump, Remote ready, Time code enable. You can
program your A810 for one specaillized application, ?
; L- W3 v$ j/ n% sre-program it later for another use.
& n' b; l# g/ M' o7 r2 @) l; P0 V    There's more. Electronic alignment of audio
parameters (bias, level, EQ) is accomplished via digital
pad networs. (Tripots have been eliminated.) After
programming alignments into the A810's memory, you
% B% E: c9 L  }  ]  Y2 B' Nsimply push a button to re-align when switching tape
formulations.
% h( B  a) |0 P. e' b$ {. g     The A810 also introduces a new generation of audio
' Z8 R8 F5 H) K9 U# Relectronics with our choice of either transformerless or
1 L1 ]+ |8 }* v8 K  D: Htransformer balanced in/out cards. Both offer advanced
phase compensation circuits for unprecedented phase
$ g8 n+ {3 Y) blinearity. The new transport control servo system responds
+ ], J0 u! S; k# B8 [5 m5 rquickly, runs cool, and offers four spooling speeds.
* x, t& L, @2 n8 a0 Y7 ?; ]9 c8 K     Everything so far is standard. As an option, The A810
% r- t9 h4 {. O+ ^offers time-coincident SMPTE code on a center track
between stereo audio channels. Separate time code
) e9 {$ D* s* Xheads auido/code crosstalk of better
  ?' ~, N! Q+ I( T, xthan 90 dB, while a normal digital delay automatically
compensates for the tape offset at all speeds. Code and
audio always come out together, just (?) on your 4 (?) track.
