   With the new A810, Studer makes a quantum leap
% r, |( g4 L8 i7 x) u& k- bforward in audio recorder technology. Quite simply, it
re-states the art of analog audio recording.
   By combining traditional Swiss craftsmanship with
the latest microprocessor control systems, Studer has
+ {- _$ g/ C) h$ P8 {engineered an audio recorder with unprecedented
& Q; f( }. T/ dcapabilities. All transport functions are totally micro-
9 o0 D5 d8 d  S( p5 Pprocessor controlled, and all four tape speeds (3.75 to
: g1 u; D; ~0 B& f  V8 }30 ips) are front panel selectable. The digital readout
, ~( a( e' Q3 G' z4 Lgives real time indication ( + or - in hrs, min, and sec.)
at all speeds, including vari-speed. A zero locate and
one autolocate position are always at hand.
8 Y, p5 K, W* G/ E9 g7 c) v   That's only the beginning. The A810 also provides
8 q4 n2 K8 G" L; q5 ~& zthree "soft keys" which may be user programmed for a
variety of operating features. It's your choice: Three more
- ~$ n  g8 K. dlocate positions, Start locate, Pause, Fader start, Tape
( s- E6 z; j# K( B, N! R2 wdump, Remote ready, Time code enable. You can
; d. l$ w2 B. X: fprogram your A810 for one specaillized application, ?
re-program it later for another use.
, a: g+ H' W# n: d3 ?" s    There's more. Electronic alignment of audio
parameters (bias, level, EQ) is accomplished via digital
pad networs. (Tripots have been eliminated.) After
' U. f2 f/ s5 ?: O' v# H+ xprogramming alignments into the A810's memory, you
simply push a button to re-align when switching tape
, V2 s, T0 G1 T; ~& T+ Z3 Gformulations.
     The A810 also introduces a new generation of audio
$ \. N% `1 W7 E- H! I( Melectronics with our choice of either transformerless or
transformer balanced in/out cards. Both offer advanced
phase compensation circuits for unprecedented phase
linearity. The new transport control servo system responds
6 q$ V) c5 [  w& z7 [5 e( w! gquickly, runs cool, and offers four spooling speeds.
     Everything so far is standard. As an option, The A810
7 z! @9 [; v/ y+ w: Z9 _offers time-coincident SMPTE code on a center track
between stereo audio channels. Separate time code
heads auido/code crosstalk of better
0 E: E$ j2 h5 V, t; j% ~4 S! fthan 90 dB, while a normal digital delay automatically
compensates for the tape offset at all speeds. Code and
2 V# T  Q- f9 P4 _audio always come out together, just (?) on your 4 (?) track.
